Although we may be biased, we feel it is hard to find a career more noble than being stewards of this earth’s beautiful land and caretakers for thousands of precious animals’ lives. Because we take this responsibility so seriously, we are continually evaluating and changing our farming and livestock practices in an effort to improve our world. We would like to share with you a few of our practices that separate us from agricultural norms and aid us in being better stewards and caretakers.
Feed Products
With the exception of a few additives, 100% of our livestock feed comes from the land RAKR farms. We grow 100% of the corn that feeds our hogs and cattle. In the spring we have winter wheat and rye green-chopped for cattle feed, and in the summer we harvest enough wheat to generate the amount of straw we need for bedding. Growing these crops in-house helps us keep our livestock feed costs very competitive. And remember, all of these feed and bedding products eventually become livestock manures that are fed to our digester!
